1. What is diabetes? |
|
It is a chronic disease associated with high blood glucose level due
to absolute or relative deficiency of a hormone called insulin which releases from
pancreas.
There may or may not be associated resistance to the action of
insulin. Insulin is like a key which opens the gate of the cell to
facilitate glucose entry. Due to deficiency or resistance of insulin
the gate does not open, glucose fails to enter the cell and blood
level of glucose rises resulting in diabetes mellitus.
